Before, during and after

Make the most of an event

  1. Step 1: Before

    Register, and ask for any accommodation you need. Look at the list of employers on the event page, pick a few to visit, and bring copies of your resume if you have one.

  2. Step 2: Getting there

    The event page gives step-by-step directions by car, on foot or by public transit, and tells you about parking and the entrance.

  3. Step 3: At the event

    Check in at the door or with your phone. At each booth, scan the QR code to see open jobs and save the recruiter’s contact information.

  4. Step 4: After

    Follow up within a few days. Slides and resources stay on the event page. Tell us how it went, and share your story if you land an interview or a job.

Before you go

Does it cost anything?

Most events are free for job seekers. When an event has a fee, its page says so before you register.

I do not have a resume. Can I still come?

Yes. Many employers take applications on their own websites, which you can reach from their booth pages. Some events also offer resume help on site; the event page lists it.

What should I wear?

Clean and comfortable is fine. Dress the way you would for a first day in the job you want, not more formal than that.

I cannot get there.

Ask for help with transportation when you register. Many events also have an online option, and the event page gives directions by public transit where it runs.

Can I bring my kids or a support person?

A support person is always welcome. For children, check the event page or ask the organizer listed there.

What happens after I register?

You get a confirmation email with the details, a calendar link, and a private link to change or cancel. We send a reminder before the event.
